‘Dancing with the Stars 23’ angling for more security after Ryan Lochte incident
In what has to be some of the least surprising news we’ve heard in quite some time, it looks as though “Dancing with the Stars,” in the wake of its first major floor-storming in 23 seasons of the show, is looking to change things up in a major way from a security perspective.
According to a report from Variety, the show’s production company in BBC Worldwide is looking into placing more security around the Olympic swimmer in the wake of what happened, just in case there are future protests or anyone who decides to try to interrupt what he does on the show in some way. This should at least help to ensure that he remains safe and that nobody is able to harm him while out on the dance floor.
Now that we’ve said that, let’s go ahead and make it clear that we’re not sure it does much of anything to stop the protesters from coming back. The big problem there is that you can’t get creepy and start conducting strip-searches, and it seems like these people all had their anti-Lochte shirts on as underclothing while they were looking to get into the ballroom for the show.
In the end, though, we’d be surprised if there is another incident this season given that there’s really no point. These people already got whatever they wanted out of this, and repeating it over and over again is only going to make them look so much worse.
