‘Black Sails’ season 4 spoilers: Check out the epic new teaser!

For “Black Sails” today, what we have is a combination of good and bad news. Let’s go ahead and start with the bad, mostly for the sake of getting the reminder over with: We’re starting to approach the final season of the show, and that’s a sad thought. There have been so few compelling pirate dramas on television that you more or less on the edge of your seat, but this one has done that!

Well, we like to think of the video below as one that sets the table rather wonderfully for everything that could be coming up moving forward, whether it be some traditional swashbuckling or something a little more akin to sweeping battles. There may not be much said in here regarding specific plot points, but at this stage, did you really expect that. It’s hard to, since we are still so many months away and there are many more secrets that need to be revealed.

In general, the biggest thing that we can hope for from the final season is that we have the table set almost perfectly for the changing tides that could come for pirates in the future. This show is, at least in our minds, best viewed as a window into a world that is mostly a feather in history, and the actions of Flint and others mean something. There could be no one quite like them before, and while pirates still exist to this day, they are hardly the same sort of people that they once were.

The new season will begin on Starz this January.
