‘Stranger Things’ renewed (finally) for season 2; video hints at time jump
We suppose that it was always a foregone conclusion that “Stranger Things” would be renewed eventually over at Netflix, but isn’t it rather nice to finally have the confirmation?
In the video below, you can see the video announcement for what Netflix is proclaiming to be “Stranger Things 2,” giving it a little bit more of a movie treatment than the standard TV show. We also learn that we’re moving forward to the fall of 1984, which is a time jump from where we left off at the end of season 1.
Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen and the Duffer Brothers are all going to be returning as executive producers, so we imagine by and large that this will be same wild, nostalgic, and super-entertaining series that you saw the first time. Of course, there is more than likely more pressure that goes along with it, but we’re pleased to see that they are taking their time. After all, season 2 is not slated to come out until we roll around to 2017. In terms of episode count, we are getting nine this time around as opposed to eight.
We imagine that in due time, there will be some further news that comes out about the story of the new season, but let’s be honest here: It’s still really early and there is still plenty of time for all of this stuff to be properly discussed.
For now, let’s just give Netflix a further round of applause as they continue to show great willingness to stand behind many of their original properties — and and they are allowing creators to come up with these sort of concepts in the first place.
