‘Saturday Night Live’ star Leslie Jones invited to Rio Olympics after amazing live-tweets

Rio -

After seeing how “Saturday Night Live” scene-stealer Leslie Jones watches the Olympics, we feel almost like every other way is inferior.

Over the past couple of days, Jones has seen many a tweet of hers go viral thanks to her hysterical commentary. We can’t post of them on the site for language reasons, but if you go to her Twitter you can check out what are basically tiny clips with her own personal take on everything that’s going down. Some Olympians have already taken note, and the same goes for NBC’s own executive producer Jim Bell. As you can see below, he personally invited her to come down to take part.

Could this actually happen? In the name of all that is good and holy, we hope so! The thing about the Olympics is that it can sometimes be overwhelming with the billion or so things that are going on. If we could have almost the “Weekend Update” version of the Games with Leslie providing brief commentary, we’d be all about that. Plus, she’s funny in a way that still honors the athletes, which is precisely what NBC would likely want (even if she can’t swear nearly as much).

Given that “SNL” will return to NBC later this fall, isn’t this also the perfect sort of brand synergy? We’ve already seen them engage in some of this after bringing Michael Che and Colin Jost to the Republican and Democratic National Conventions.

There’s no word just yet on if this is going to happen, but we really really hope so. Have we made that clear enough?
