Teen Choice Awards 2016: ‘Teen Wolf,’ ‘Girl Meets World,’ ‘The Fosters,’ ‘Baby Daddy’ compete for Summer Show

What’s this, Teen Choice Awards? Another category? We’ll happily dive into discussing you! Our daily tradition of chronicling categories continues today with Choice TV: Summer Show, a really odd one given that of the shows nominated this year, not all of them have even premiered yet this summer; heck, one of them in “Teen Wolf” still feeds like it is quite a long ways away from coming back! It almost feels like you’re voting on winter seasons of some of these shows for a summer category.

Hey, maybe we’re thinking about this much more than we are meant to.

The nominees

“Baby Daddy”

“Girl Meets World”

“So You Think You Can Dance”

“Teen Wolf”

“The Fosters”

“Young & Hungry”

Who will win – Of this group, we’re going to say “Teen Wolf” easily, even though it does feel weird to vote for a summer show that still seems reasonably far away. The show just has the most passionate following, and we get it given that so many of the cast members are strong, capable performers with large web presences. Of the other choices, “Girl Meets World” is really the only one with something resembling a chance.

Who should win – Of this group, we’d be inclined to pick “The Fosters,” even if it hasn’t premiered yet, either. We just know that it will be back on the air Monday, and from what we’ve seen both at the end of this past season and of season 4 so far (we’ve had a chance to check out an early version of the premiere), this is going to be a powerful year ahead anchored by some great performances. We’d probably put “Girl Meets World,” ironically, in second place here, as well.
