Should ‘Blue Bloods’ season 7 introduce Frank love interest?
For much of our time here at CarterMatt, we have placed a real emphasis in some of our articles about the CBS show on the relationship between one Jamie and Eddie, which is one that to this day we are going to continue to fight for. However, at the same time we do think that there is room for some other romance to pop in on this show, and Tom Selleck’s Frank could be an interesting focal point for it.
Anyone who has followed the career of the actor definitely knows already that he has a real knack for playing these sort of rugged, charming characters. With that in mind, it’s fairly easy to envision some scenarios in which he ends up being paired off with someone down the road. It has been some time since he lost his wife, and we’ve seen him at least dab in romance here or there on the show.
There is also a symbolic reason to give the Frank character a love interest before the series is over, and that is doing something that few other shows do: Show that love is possible at any age, and that even though Frank has gone through tragedy, there can still be a way for him to find some sort of new happiness. It doesn’t take away from anything with Mary; instead, it is a new chapter, and one that could be filled with light and interesting material for Selleck to play.

I’ve already chosen the actress who should be Frank’s love interest, Lynda Carter. Her role is Fionna O”Flanagan, born in NYC but living & working in the Dublin Police Department since her twenties. Commander O’Flanagan is asked to serve as liaison with the NYPD. She & Frank immediately become friends, but it’s only when he almost loses her in a terrorist attack that he realizes that he loves her. BTW, this is the same attack where Jamie almost loses Eddie & the new sergeant realizes his love.

Jamie should be promoted and he and Eddie go from partners to partners (boyfriend/girlfriend). Frank should have a love interest. Would love to see Margaret Colin’s character be made full time (or at least reoccurring) and their relationship go from in town hook up to romance.
