‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Brie Larson, Taran Killam, Alicia Keys, and derby hats (video)
For all of those out there who love “Saturday Night Live,” this weekend’s episode certainly has the potential to be a great one. While Brie Larson may not have been a household name before “Room” this year, we know her to be a very funny and very capable performer who has the chops to pull this show off.
Also, you get a further sense of that in the promo below featuring Taran Killam and Alicia Keys. The first joke is probably the funniest, mostly because it seems to be following the trajectory of the first preview with Kenan Thompson, where he joked that the only thing that he won in comparison to Oscar winner Brie was a Kids’ Choice Award. However, that was spun around here with it looking on the surface like the only thing Taran ever won was a Class Clown Award in school … but it turns out that he really didn’t win that, either. Instead, it was Keys who took home that prize.
Overall, we find this to be as good of a promo as you’re going to see in this format, and it gets us intrigued to see what the show is planning to do this weekend. It’s especially interesting now given that the political landscape has changed dramatically with Donald Trump being the sole Republican contender now. Are we going to see someone like Taran take over the impression, or will Darrell Hammond continue to occupy the role even though he’s not even a featured player? These are the little things we care about.
We’ll be back to review this episode live later tonight, so be sure to check back then.
