‘Quantico’ season 2 moving production to New York; will continue to have 22 episodes
For its upcoming second season, “Quantico” on ABC is going to have even more of an authentic feel than it had before.
Per a report from Deadline, the second season of the Priyanka Chopra series is moving production from Montreal (where the majority of season 1 was filmed) to New York City to take advantage of some tax credits. We imagine that there are some other benefits that go along with this, as well, as the entire writing staff for the series will also be based there. It’s not really that often these days were a serialized drama has their writers and performers in the same city, but we do think it is useful for the purposes of face-to-face communication.
This move also further cements that this show will probably have an even more authentic feel for some of the scenes that are filmed out and about New York. Producers did a good job replicating the city in Canada, especially since we tend to think of Toronto as a more frequent stand-in for New York than we do Montreal; at least now, they will have some more local landmarks to work with, though we don’t think they’ll spend all of their time filming at expensive / familiar locales.
One other update mentioned in the report is that the upcoming second season will run for 22 episodes; we assumed that this would certainly be the case, but it’s nice to have verification so we don’t have to spend much time pondering over it.
