‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 9, episode 19 review: What is Sheldon’s secret?

Big Bang Theory -For the days leading up to Thursday night’s new episode of “The Big Bang Theory,” we were hearing constantly about some sort of secret that was going to come out regarding the Sheldon character. What would it be? The only real evidence that we had was that it involved the “death” of Sheldon’s busted laptop.

We did not see the story heading in the direction that it did, with him revealing to Amy that he has a secret collection of things that have either broken, or that he refuses to do anything with. It’s certainly a strange decision for him to make, but the more we think about it, the more it does make a little bit of sense for the character. Just remember for a minute here that this is someone who has spent the majority of his life not making any real social connections to anyone. He has close attachments to things, and in some ways, they probably feel like friends.

This discovery on Amy’s part provided a great sense of bonding between the two, even though for the time being we’re not entirely sure that there is a whole lot more story about this. We’re actually fine with the fact that this is a smaller secret, since there won’t be that need for Amy to tell anyone else.

As for the B-story about Leonard and Howard sneaking off and going to a “Suicide Squad” screening, it didn’t really go anywhere that was that funny other than making Raj upset. Sure, Kunal Nayyar got to have some funny lines, but this was nothing that we haven’t seen from the character before. Episode Grade: B-.
