‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 7 spoilers: On Paul Wesley, Joseph Morgan, and ‘The Originals’ crossover

tvd -There’s a ton of great stuff worth looking forward to when “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Originals” cross over later this winter, but there is of course one question that rises to the top: If Klaus and Stefan are going to be spending time together, isn’t it inevitable that Caroline is going to come up as a subject of conversation? The two each have their own romantic history with her, and for Klaus in particular, he may view her still as the one who got away even if they did have a small twist a couple of seasons ago.

While executive producer Caroline Dries does not necessarily mention Caroline when setting up the upcoming crossover to TVLine, she does enough to make us pretty confident that this is going to be a subject of conversation at some point:

“We knew we wanted to see Joseph [Morgan] and Paul Wesley together on screen; they’ve had the longest history on the shows, apart from Elijah and Katherine … Now, they have some interesting conversation over some bourbon.”

Dries also discusses some of how this crossover ends up happening in the first place, and how it is going to carry into both shows:

“Stefan is forced into exile because of his story, which won’t be for a few more episodes. He ends up going to New Orleans for protection, and when you’re in New Orleans … of course you’re going to run into your mortal enemy. It’s a fun, rich, interesting story that starts on The Vampire Diaries and successfully transitions into The Originals.”
