‘The Flash’ season 2 spoilers: Robbie Amell’s return comes with a twist

It’s been known for some time now that Robbie Amell was going to be coming back on “The Flash” as Ronnie Raymond this season. However, this is not going to be the same Ronnie you remember.

As first reported by Entertainment Weekly, Amell’s Earth-2 incarnation of the character is going to be fighting for the other side as the villain Deathstorm. Here is what executive producer Andrew Kreisberg had to say on the subject:

“We are beyond excited to have Robbie back on The Flash … You can’t keep a good Firestorm down. Only this time, he’s back with a twist, a deadly Earth-Two version of our beloved Ronnie in the form of Deathstorm.”

Here’s where things get a little more complicated / polarizing for us. The site also claims that Earth-2 Ronnie is also with Earth-2 Caitlin, who in this world is Killer Frost. Sure, making the two into a sort of evil Bonnie & Clyde is a little interesting, but we still feel like not having Earth-1 Caitlin become the villain is a little bit of taking the easy road out, if at least this is the plan. (Earth-2 Caitlin being evil doesn’t preclude it happening to Earth-1 Caitlin.)

Also, if Earth-2 Caitlin is Killer Frost, why hasn’t Jay Garrick or Harrison Wells said anything regarding this? Wouldn’t it be some important information to know in the event that an evil version of Caitlin turns up and starts causing trouble? We suppose it’s possible that they don’t know and haven’t met this version of the character, but that’s all we got for now.
