‘Shark Tank’ review: Umano, Brazi Bites, SockTABs, National Association of Bubble Soccer

Sharks -Tonight on “Shark Tank,” you’ve got food, fashion, and sports all rolled into one. There’s some fun stuff in here! Heck, there’s even something in here that we would buy if we saw it in the store, which is not something we say very often.

As per usual here at CarterMatt, we’re going to update this article live as the show progresses. Stay tuned…

National Association of Bubble Soccer – In addition to being fun, is it something that can actually make money? We’re blaming the entire failure here on the presentation, which was confusing when it comes to how money is made. This does look fun, but there was no clear vision and we even think that there was some arrogance in some of the responses. It felt almost like he assumed someone would just want to give him an investment because the game itself was so fun. No deal.

Brazi Bites – Are these bites a tasty snack worthy of some extra cash? These look really good! We’d buy them if we saw them at the store, especially given that we do enjoy the occasional gluten-free snack and there are so few of them that legitimately taste like anything other than cardboard. They had some issues such as debt and having 50% of the business in other hands, but Lori Greiner was probably the right person. If she can do with them even close to what Bantam Bagels is doing, they’ll be in great shape.

Umano – Is this more than a fun idea to empower young artists? We like the brand, and we like the cause. We wouldn’t pay close to $50 for a shirt, but we appreciate the idea that there are high-end customers out there who would buy it. We feel like they got a great deal, as well; while Lori and Mark Cuban do not have the fashion experience of Daymond John, the difference in equity was too much for them to pass on.

SockTABs – Is this the perfect product to make organization easier? Well, this was an interesting case of a product that seemed almost dead in the water until Daymond John at the last second jumped in with an offer. We do see where there is merit in the business, given that there is something appealing and affordable about finding a way to save yourself from losing socks. We’re just not sure we’ve ever seen anyone as passionate about socks pretty much ever.
