‘The Flash’ season 2, episode 7 preview: Gorilla Grodd returns; Caitlin Snow in jeopardy

Tonight, “The Flash” introduced someone in Zoom who may very well be the most terrifying villain that we have seen so far in the Flash / Arrow universe. The guy is supremely terrifying, and out for nothing more than destruction. It’s pretty fantastic that we are this rattled by a villain without ever seeing their face.

Well, moving into next week’s episode “Gorilla Warfare” we are transferring over from one villain to the next. We’re going to be seeing the return of Grodd after a lengthy absence, and in turn, a scary situation for Caitlin Snow. Take a look at the synopsis below:

“Grodd returns to Central City and kidnaps Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker). Barry (Grant Gustin) and team race to find her before it’s too late. Meanwhile, Cisco (Carlos Valdes) plans his first date with the new barista at Jitters, Kendra Saunders (guest star Ciara Renée) and Patty (guest star Shantel VanSanten) begins to suspect Barry is hiding something from her.”

Ultimately, it looks like we’re going to be getting at least a temporary break from the whole Zoom storyline, and our guess is that he will be gone now until the midseason finale in December. After all, there is a big crossover ahead to set up “Legends of Tomorrow” in early December, and that is coming after a hiatus over the course of Thanksgiving Week

We imagine that this episode will probably be one of the few appearances we get from Grodd this season, mostly because much like King Shark, it is very costly to get this sort of CGI on the screen. This is especially true on The CW. Given how prominent he is in the “Flash” comic universe, we’ll take him every chance we can.
