‘NCIS’ season 13 spoilers: Expect big things for 300th episode
Anytime that you have a milestone episode of a show like “NCIS,” you have a certain expectation (and understandably so) that you are going to watch an episode completely deliver on a variety of different things. This includes giving you a crazy, twisted story that is a little nostalgic, a little surprising, and a little something more in general from what you tend to see.
Given that “NCIS” still has a little bit of time before this episode is filmed, it’s clear that some folks behind the scenes are still thinking about what they want to do. Specifically, showrunner Gary Glasberg had the following to say to TVLine when talking about what the process of planning this out has been like:
“We’re starting to knock some ideas around. It’s an episode that I think we’re going to put some military and Navy attachment to, that may have to do with a veterans scenario that we’ve been intrigued by, is really heartfelt and could be something that Gibbs connects with … We’ll also probably bring on a bunch of surprise guest stars, as well.”
One thing that will be especially fun to potentially see here is whether or not Glasberg and company really mean it when it comes to the “surprise” of it all. If you can find a way to bring in a wide array of people who we don’t see coming without announcing them in advance, we’ll give the a show lot of credit. It’s a pretty bold move to do something like this in the modern age where you like to hype up everything in the present.

The last time they hyped something (very shocking, the death of a team member), it turned out to be Dorneget who was sort of a team member long ago. I try not to fall for the hype. It is usually disappointing. Glassberg tends to fall in love with his own ideas. Success comes when you figure out what your audience wants. I’m still missing some one like Kate or Ziva, the strong woman that Bellisariso wrote into this show in seasons 1 through 4..It doesn’t have to be Kate or Ziva but “like” them.

I’m guessing that Gibbs will heroically save the day or an underdog or maybe the world and treat a clownishly written Tony like a something disgusting on the bottom of his shoe. It will be promoted to death since it will be about nothing but how awesome Gibbs is since he’s the only team member who matters. In other words – a standard Gibbs is amazing plot. What are the odds that the surprise guest will be Mike Franks or some other character related to Gibbs tragic past?

And despite the tiny violin playing somewhere in the distance, the odds are somewhere around 100% that my prediction will be on the money. Glasberg worships at the altar of Harmon’s GIbbs. The show is nothing but the Gibbs show now. No other character really matters unless they can somehow highlight some virtue possessed by Gibbs.
