‘The X Factor UK’ review: Che Chesterman, Josh Daniel, Simon Lynch take on Nick Grimshaw’s Six Chair Challenge

X FactorThis particular article is about Nick Grimshaw and his category of the Boys on “The X Factor,” and for the most part, we feel for the guy. This started out terribly. We think that claims of it being an unmitigated disaster are a little untrue; we just think that the show stacked most of the questionable acts in the early going to get some press for this stage of the competition.

We’re going to update this article through the auditions for the Boys until the six chairs are officially filled. At this point, we’re going to sift out some of what we consider to be garbage. There was quite a bit of that in here.

Tom Bleasby – He was far from the best singer we’ve ever heard among Boys on this show, but he does have tremendous range and potential. He needs to just get out there on stage, own it, and actually prove that he’s having fun. We get the sense that he wants this, but does not quite know how to do it.

Simon Lynch – This was much better than his final Bootcamp performance. He’s got a great tone and a look about him, and we understand easily why Nick would want him on his team. He’s the sort of guy who could easily get a lot of votes and work his way to being a serious contender to win the competition.

Seann Miley Moore – We really dig his distinctive sense of style, and to go along with that, he’s got an excellent voice. He is one of the more dynamic performers that we’ve had a chance to see. Hopefully, he brings this originality to the next stage and gets to the live shows.

Josh Daniel – Josh is probably #1 among the guys for us. Soulful, smart, emotional, and likable. He’s the perfect combination of everything you want, and while it may not have been as great as what we saw in the first audition, it was certainly still worthy of a chair. He was the first person that had to replace someone else; Papasidero ended up being replaced, which is sad because we like him.

Ben Clark – This was messy. Ben got a chair deservedly, but nobody really thought that Nick was going to replace Tom with him. What’s going to happen? Well, we think that somehow, Tom may still have a shot at this. Nick did make the decision to bring him back, swapping out Nathaniel (who messed up on his lyrics).

Che Chesterman – Of course, the best vocalist was saved for last! We like Che’s new look for one, and that note he hit during “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” was something else! He may not have the total package just yet like Josh, but we saw a noticeable uptick in confidence that could take him further.
