‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 12, episode 2 reaction: April fights for Jackson; Bailey fights for respect

Grey's AnatomyCan everyone adjust to new surroundings at the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital? This was a question at the center of Thursday night’s “Grey’s Anatomy” episode, as everyone had to try to adapt to what was a new landscape.

All of this began with the appointment of Bailey as the new Chief, which has been a long time coming and is a tremendous achievement for her. We are always going to be happy to see Bailey get a chance to shine, but in the process she may want to remember a certain thing known as patience. In other words, she may want to begin to realize that not everyone else wants to operate at her pace, or wants to have orders screamed at them. There is a difference between being in the Army and working at a hospital, and it is so much different when your boss, in fact, is someone you once considered a colleague. In particular, Bailey needs to understand that Meredith does not need to be micro-managed.

We always find that there is a little bit less to discuss when it comes to the particulars of a medical case, so we are not going to spend too much time discussing the case of the extremely tall woman and her need for brain surgery. To us, this was more of an outlet to show the wide array of problems that are taking place at the hospital with Bailey.

Relationship talk – We should label this instead “lack of relationship talk,” since we are getting the sense that Jackson just is not having it when it comes to his discussions with April. He feels like he was ignored and abandoned, and in a sense, he is doing the same thing to her as a retaliation. If there is good news for the two and their future, April will slash and burn until she is “bloody” for them. Great writing; it was impassioned, and she is not giving up on them. She’s just got her work cut out for her as a result of her past actions.

Now, look at Owen and Amelia. They’ve got feelings, but they’ve also confusion. Plenty of it. She doesn’t know how to define what they have, and we also have no idea how to define what they have. We’re not sure if a rearrangement of “Shake It Off” is the right music for this…

Also, look at Callie and Arizona trying to pretend like they are okay with seeing other people! Maybe that’s just us personally reading into the two of them.
