‘The Walking Dead’ season 6 spoilers: Andrew Lincoln teases the latest chapter of Rick Grimes
“The Walking Dead” has always been an emotional journey for Rick Grimes, and we don’t see that changing anytime soon. He’s a man who has lost loved ones, nearly died himself, killed countless walkers, and developed a persona that is far and away from the man he was when he first woke from that coma.
Moving into season 6, one of the larger questions we could see many pondering is a fairly simple one: Just how in the world is this man going to become a functioning member of Alexandria? Through most of season 5 (at least the latter portions in the city), he struggled with this mightily as nobody seemed particularly ready to allow this man to integrate. As Andrew Lincoln teases to Entertainment Weekly, come October 11 you are going to continue to see someone who is struggling mightily with how to fit in and make his presence properly felt in this town:
“You meet a man at the end of season 5 that is unequivocal about how we should defend and secure this new world, and it is a feasible world, he believes. And I think that you see a man going into motion about that. But, you know, respectful of the hierarchy over there, but very possessive, and he’s not integrating as well as he could. And maybe that’s his Achilles heel.”
Are there chances for him to change his stripes? Sure. He’s got a potential romance, a chance to raise Carl without fear of constant death every second (if things stay relatively peaceful, which seems unlikely), and also an opportunity to have a defined role in a community. We’re just not sure he knows how to trust enough to ensure that this happens:
