‘Girl Meets World’ season 2, episode 16 video: How ‘Boy Meets World’ enters the picture

If there was ever a way for the Disney Channel to ensure that plenty of “Boy Meets World” fans wanted to Friday night’s all-new episode of “Girl Meets World,” it would be to find a way to mold the two shows together.

Somehow, they have managed to do just that! The video below is your first look at “Girl Meets Cory and Topanga,” which is a story all about Riley’s insecurities over whether or not she will ever be as good as her parents, who seem to have so much of their lives figured out and are doing really great things.

So how does the original sitcom factor into this? It appears to be mostly that Riley and Maya are imagining themselves somewhat within the world of “Boy Meets World,” and then the producers are using some classic clips to create the magic. There’s no time travel involved here, but this is a brilliant move to play into the hearts of nostalgic fans who may not have seen some of the early episodes of the original show in some time.

As a whole, we would say that season 2 has been much more nostalgic than the first, given that we have see more of Shawn Hunter and Eric Matthews, and then got cameos from people such as Angela and Tommy, with the latter being one that caught us completely off-guard. The show is finding its voice, and it is finding much of it within the heart of the one that started it all.
