2015 Emmys: Should Cat Deeley, Jane Lynch, Tom Bergeron win Reality Host honor?

Emmys -The Reality Host honor to us with the Primetime Emmy Awards is so bizarre. You’ve got nominees who are of different hosting capacities facing off, and it seems like year after year it feels like there are some that are inconspicuously left off. For example, how do you not have either Jeff Probst or Padma Lakshmi on here? Ryan Seacret is also exceptionally good at his job, even if for the most part the job that he does is rather boring.

When looking at the candidates for the award this year, we actually think that we are looking at a three-person race both in terms of who will win the trophy and who actually should. It’s always possible that there is a surprise, but this category is not really known for that.

The nominees

Tom Bergeron, “Dancing with the Stars” (ABC)

Anthony Bourdain, “The Taste” (ABC)

Cat Deeley, “So You Think You Can Dance” (Fox)

Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn, “Project Runway” (Lifetime)

Jane Lynch, “Hollywood Game Night” (NBC)

Who should win – Bergeron. Hosting a live show is one of the hardest jobs in the world, and he somehow continues to find the right tone for the ballroom. He keeps the proceedings for the most part light, and comes up with quick jokes on the fly when things start to tense up. This show with its scoring system could easily take a turn for the worst with people getting competitive, but he does not allow that to happen.

Who will win – Probably Lynch, given that her show is the most current and she brings so much to it. While we’d like to see Deeley take home an Emmy, and she did just announce the nominees earlier in the summer, Jane is a former Emmy host who seems to be for the most part beloved by the TV Academy. To us, the three names we’ve mentioned in the past two paragraphs are really the only ones with a chance at winning.
