‘Doctor Who’ season 9, episode 1 preview: First details, promo for ‘The Magician’s Apprentice’

The season 9 premiere of “Doctor Who” is now only two mere weeks away, and the BBC has finally decided that now is the time to offer up some of the first official details on what could be coming up! The premiere episode is entitled “The Magician’s Apprentice,” and based on everything that we are seeing for this episode at the moment, all signs do seem to point towards us having a fast-paced, shocking, and adventurous start to the season with twists and turns along the way.

Steven Moffat penned this episode, which features the return of Michelle Gomez as Missy / The Master; based on the synopsis below, it also is going to feature a Doctor that starts things off relatively missing in action:

“Where is the Doctor? When the skies of Earth are frozen by a mysterious alien force, Clara needs her friend. But where is the Doctor, and what is he hiding from? 

“As past deeds come back to haunt him, old enemies will come face-to-face, and for the Doctor and Clara survival seems impossible.”

The promo features some very cool imagery at first, and then things start to venture into really cool territory courtesy of the very end of the promo with the Dalek calling for “maximum extermination.” We kind of thought that was what the Daleks were doing constantly anyway, but what do we know?

Also, Peter Capaldi in sunglasses. What better way to make all of his jealous of how cool he can be?
