Stephen Colbert’s second week of ‘Late Show’ guests include Bernie Sanders, Ban Ki-Moon
We really have to give whoever the talent bookers are for “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” some serious credit right now: They are nailing this in a way that very few other shows are at the moment. While most of his shows do have the customary super-famous person appearing (typically an actor), he also has someone incredibly unique and different than late-night fare.
We’re going to go through this day-by-day to examine the greatness of it all, but here’s a reminder that you can see the first week of guests now over at the link here.
Monday, September 14 – Emily Blunt is the standard famous person, but then you’ve got Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer making an appearance and then also a performance from the Dead Weather.
Tuesday, September 15 – Jake Gyllenhaal, and then also Run the Jewels with TV on the Radio. Right now, this is the only show without a notable second guest.
Wednesday, September 16 – You’ve got Kevin Spacey, and then Carol Burnett (a comedy icon) alongside two great up-and-comers Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer. If that wasn’t enough, let’s talk about Willie Nelson!
Thursday, September 17 – We’re for some reason really excited about the one-two punch of Naomi Watts and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon. What other show would you see this?
Friday, September 18 – Lupita Nyong’o of the upcoming “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is joined by Senator / Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, and then there will also be a performance by ‘An American in Paris’ stars Christopher Wheeldon, Robert Fairchild and Leanne Cope.
What a weird, wonderful group this is. We’re excited more than ever to see what Colbert does with this show. All episodes start on September 8!
