‘The X Factor UK’ preview: Could girl group 4th Power become instant hit?

X FactorIf there are two things that we really know at the moment about singing competitions, they are as follows: They love interesting stories, and acts with some sort of footprint in the Philippines tend to draw huge headlines. We’ve seen time and time again acts become immensely popular in the country even if they just have a relative from the country; we can only image how big 4th Power will be there given that these “X Factor” UK contestants actually hail from the country.

In their pre-performance meeting with the judges, the four girls make it very clear that they came from halfway around the world just to be there to perform, which we do like. It’s one of the ways to tap into some new talent; just last year, it brought us Andrea Faustini. They may be one of the most impressive auditions we’ve ever seen just from a talent level alone.

What these girls have going for them is that they seem to have all of the components that you need to be really successful at this show. They’re all very good singers, they can do choreography without a problem, and they can even rap and tackle current songs! The judges seem to love them from the moment they start this rendition of “Bang Bang.”

If there is a noticeable problem with the group, it is strictly this: They need to tighten up their vocals, work on harmonies, and know that it’s okay some times to not sing their faces off. It feels very much like they are belting at almost every moment, and they don’t need to. They’re still raw, but this group could be HUGE with the right teaching this season.
