‘Sons of Anarchy’ spin-off in the works at FX focusing on the Mayans
It had been a while since we have heard too much in the way of continuing the “Sons of Anarchy” franchise; creator Kurt Sutter had previously entertained the idea of a prequel series focusing on the early days of SAMCRO and John Teller, and we assumed that if there was ever going to be something further in this world, this would be it.
This is in part why we were so surprised by the news earlier today. Multiple sources confirm that Sutter and FX are working on some sort of spin-off series revolving around the Mayans, one of the most-prominent other motorcycle gangs featured on the show. Marcus Alvarez is one of the more well-known characters who came from that club, but there is not really any word just yet as to whether or not he or anyone else from the original show would be involved here.
At the moment, it is still far too early to determine many details related to the show, including when it would premiere or if any popular cast members from the original series would return. Many were left alive after the series finale, but it is hard to imagine anyone departing SAMCRO in order to join another club after everything they went through.
Ultimately, this is a story and a show we hope to have some more in the way of news about throughout the coming weeks or even months. For now, you do have to remember still that there is another Sutter show coming up this fall in “The Bastard Executioner.” That is going to capture most of the attention since this is the next big project he’s been working on since “Sons of Anarchy”.
