‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5 spoilers: All about the Dark Swan’s dagger

There are a wide array of questions that are important when it comes to the fifth season of “Once Upon a Time,” but of course many of the most-important ones revolve around Emma Swan being the new “Dark One” … and also just who could have the power to control her.

As anyone who is a longtime viewer of this show knows, the most important thing about the Dark One is that they can be operated courtesy of the dagger, and who has this could be more important than anything that she decides that she wants to do herself. This is a big mystery, but one that Ginnifer Goodwin says will be resolved quickly when the show returns on September 27.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the actress behind Snow White makes it fairly clear that we will get an answer on the dagger mystery quickly, and that is certainly music to our ears to hear. This will propel us to the next key phase of the story, and there are many separate mysteries that need to be figured out here even after this one. Remember that Merlin is the only one with the power apparently to make this darkness completely disappear, and the cast will have to find him. In turn, this is how they may run into King Arthur and Guinevere, who are two of the other important characters at the center of season 5.

It’s somewhat complicated how we feel about the Emma situation at the moment. From one vantage point, of course we want Emma to be okay and for her to not be possessed by evil for long. However, at the same exact time we really hope that it lasts long enough to see more of what the Dark Swan is really capable of.
