‘Mistresses’ season 3, episode 9 video: The Calista vs. Joss battle rages on

There is something thoroughly entertaining to us about the murder mystery at the center of ABC’s “Mistresses,” even though we are at the same time at least somewhat cognizant that this is not everyone’s cup of tea. It is just such a bizarre, twisted, and engaging mystery that features a pair of people going head-to-head in contentious fashion … and these are two people in Joss and Calista who have a history of fighting for what they want, albeit in very different ways.

If you are somewhat behind but still feeling the need to read spoiler articles, a quick reminder for you: Calista’s husband Luca is now dead, and after thinking at first that her friend would protect her, Joss is instead being thrown to the wolves. She tried to seduce his as a means to help Calista get the proof she needed that Luca was a cheater; now, Jennifer Esposito’s character is claiming that Joss did this all on her own, and she is “obsessed” with her and this was all a part of a cruel plan.

Thankfully, Joss is not taking these sort of allegations lying down in the slightest. She is fighting back in a big way, and that includes issuing some reminders of her own that Calista now has two dead husbands, and there may be enough evidence here to ponder whether or not she is a Black Widow out to kill men she is unhappy with.

We still feel like the killer is neither one of these women, and we’re spinning our wheels tossing accusations back and forth when the real killer is still out there. That may be frustrating, but it is also a part of the drama of the show.
