‘Arrow’ season 4 spoilers: ‘Falling Skies’ alum joining Shadowspire

In the present-day on “Arrow” season 4, one of Oliver Queen’s chief adversaries is going to be Damien Darhk. However, when it comes to some of the flashbacks we’re going to see a pretty wide array of villains turn up.

According to a new report coming in right now via Variety, “Falling Skies” actor Ryan Robbins has been cast to play a recurring role of Conklin in the flashback portion of the storyline. Insofar as we know, Conklin is not someone familiar from the comics, and it should be interesting to learn a thing or two more regarding where he comes from and his motivations. He’s described as being a tough, ruthless guy, and therefore someone who Oliver is probably not going to enjoy spending time around.

One of the other primary castings in the flashback world right now has been Baron Reiter, who despite his name and connections to Shadowspire, is not exactly the same character as Baron Blitzkrieg from the comics. The challenge for “Arrow” coming up is just going to be finding a way to make us really care about these flashbacks. For the time being, we really don’t, mostly because there is not too much to grasp hold of at the moment that has us thrilled. We don’t know how much more of Oliver’s past we really need to understand to have figured out that this is a guy who has been through stuff. Also, we’re not entirely sure of just what the timeline of these flashbacks are anymore. Has the same amount of time passed as on the show itself?

Hopefully, more answers will come when “Arrow” premieres on Wednesday, October 7. We can tell you that Robbins will first appear in episode 3.
