NeNe Leakes leaving ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ after seven seasons
We’re hear today to report a story that we admittedly never felt that we would be writing: After seven years being one of the biggest personalities in the history of Bravo, NeNe Leakes is officially departing “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” This is a show that really launched her career as a TV personality, and she was also the show’s highest-paid star. This was a great platform for her, but apparently at this time she has decided that she would rather not expose herself to the same constant drama that has over the years.
NeNe confirmed the news herself in a statement per Us Weekly, making it clear that she wants to move on to do other things, but she is still grateful at the same time to everyone who gave her a real chance to shine here.
“After seven seasons of being part of Real Housewives of Atlanta, I can confirm that I am not going to be returning to the show for Season 8. I am grateful to Bravo, Andy Cohen and True Entertainment for giving me the opportunity to show the world NeNe Leakes and sometimes to show them NayNay … Being part of RHOA has been a big part of my life but I’m excited for new the beginnings I am pursuing and embarking upon. Thank you so much to everyone who has watched and supported me over the years on this amazing platform. With lots of thought and prayer I’ve decided to step out on faith and not fear.”
We admit that we never thought NeNe would leave for the reasons mentioned above, but at the same time there is not really a reason for her to want to stay any longer. What more is there for her to prove here other than that she is involved constantly in the same sort of arguments? Sometimes a change can be a good thing, and maybe this ends up helping both her and the show.
