‘Shark Tank’ revisited: Lumi, Sseko Designs, Boobypack, Paint Brush Cover, and Gold Rush Nugget Bucket

The latest -As you know by now, there is no new “Shark Tank” on until the summer, but we want to keep you as up-to-date in the process as possible every step of the way! Therefore, we are going to continue to publish some articles throughout the summer giving you are versions of some of the update segments that you occasionally see on the show.

In addition to the products listed below, you will get a chance to see again an update on the Paint Brush Cover, which is so simple and yet one of the more effective products the show has featured. It fills a specific need, and there are many reasons to buy it. Sometimes products on this show tend to overthink things and prepare without consideration of what the market would want.

Sseko Designs – This business to us seems to be flourishing: They’re active online still following the show, and produce lines of sandals, bags and much more with a powerful story all about how they are helping women in Uganda in the process. As a whole, few other companies on the show have that right mixture of sales and strong story. Obviously the downside here is still personal taste more than anything else, since not everyone is going to be into this particular style.

Gold Rush Nugget Bucket – This still is a somewhat-silly novelty product that is only useful for people who either have disposable income to get a gold-panning kit of this magnitude, or people who view this as a semi-serious hobby. Still, they’ve done well enough since the show to expand the types of buckets that they sell. If they’re making a great product that sells, who are we to judge based on whether or not it appeals to us?

Boobypack – We’re not the target audience for this, but we are extremely impressed with how they’ve seemed to do since getting a deal with Barbara Corcoran. They have expanded their product line tremendously, and also have a great understanding of what their market is with that sort of cheeky name. They’re able to have some fun, but at the same time there is a function to using this versus a fanny pack (which come to think of it, is an equally cheeky name in a different way).

Lumi – When the show first aired, Lumi was a company known mostly for being able to place designs onto shirts. They’ve expanded beyond that now, and also produce now custom stamps and decals. It’s a smart business, though it may be a little overwhelming at first glance unless you know precisely what you are looking to get.
