‘NCIS’ wins most-watched award (for second straight year) going into season 13

NCIS -It is not exactly easy to get on television, and then to air for over twelve seasons is something that only a small number of shows actually get to celebrate. Winning an award at this point for being the most-watched series out there is really something worth doing cartwheels about.

For the second straight year, it has been announced (per TVbythenumbers) that “NCIS” is the recpient of the International Television Audience Award for a Drama TV Series at the Monte Carlo TV Festival. Despite having a storyline that is very American-based (solving crimes impacting the U.S. Navy), the show is played in 200 countries around the world, and is very popular in many of them.

Why does this show do so well? We feel like much of it is due to it having a very simple premise, really memorable characters, and then also a format that makes it easy for viewers to jump in and watch. Regardless of if you are a 15-year old in Argentina or a 70-year old in Siberia, you can still check out the show and, provided that you have subtitles or dubbing, understand quickly what the show is about.

In the end, we hope the show gets a chance to toast their success here. “NCIS” is reigning supreme after a lengthy run of “CSI” for this award. That crime show is coming to a close in September in the form of a two-hour movie, which will bring back many original cast members. Meanwhile, “NCIS” season 13 will premiere this fall.
