‘The Bachelorette’ spoilers: Now featuring Amy Schumer and Laila Ali

Kaitlyn -The Bachelorette” has officially unveiled now Kaitlyn Bristowe as the star of the season, and while there may be remnants of the initial twist throughout the season (i.e. a possible update here and there on life with Britt Nilsson), for the most part we imagine the season going relatively normally the rest of the way. There will be group dates, individual dates, and the variety of them will probably be relatively similar to the ones that we’ve seen over the years.

For example, we’re going to see some ridiculously machismo group date going on Monday night where Laila Ali teaches the men how to box; then, we are going to see a hopefully-more-hilarious date after that fronted by Amy Schumer, who will give out some points as to how to be funny in a short period of time. Given that Kaitlyn herself loves telling jokes, this one should be interesting!

The synopsis below offers up a few more details:

“The men are taught to throw a punch by one of the best – Laila Ali – in preparation for squaring off against one another. Superstar comic Amy Schumer attempts to sharpen the rapier wit of a group of the bachelors, but will they be able to make our wise-cracking Bachelorette laugh?”

We already have a a clear love / hate relationship going on with these dates. For example, we really like the idea of having the guys show that they can make fun of both Kaitlyn and themselves, and it doesn’t seem like we’re getting to the same roast format that we had years ago when Jeff Ross was in charge of getting things going. We love roasts, but that was just too weird for the show.

Meanwhile, we had the dates where guys are told to basically beat up on each other. It just is so stereotypical and it reduces men to an almost medieval era of fighting with each other to impress a woman. No thank you to that.
