‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Reese Witherspoon, Aidy Bryant have fun outside

SNL -This weekend, Reese Witherspoon is hosting “Saturday Night Live” for the first time in 14 years, and with Florence + the Machine coming in as musical guest. When we realized just what a long hiatus it has been for the “Wild” / “Walk the Line” star, the first thing we admittedly felt was surprise. It just feels like Reese is almost like this past host Scarlett Johansson, who has been back on the show many times over the years. She’s a genuine movie star who comes across as very likable, and can also do comedy really well.

While we’re not going to profess that any moment in the promo video below for this episode is necessarily hilarious, it’s all certainly pleasant enough. Reese and Aidy Bryant contemplate leaving the promo to enjoy the sunshine, substituting themselves with broomsticks wearing clothing and sunglasses. Meanwhile, at one point they start to describe almost the story of “Wild” before determining that looking at cell phone videos of puppies will be more entertaining.

One other thing that we wonder here comes in the cameo department. Given that Sofia Vergara has hosted before and she is the co-star in Witherspoon’s upcoming movie, isn’t it possible that she will turn up here? We have to think so.

This show with Reese is the penultimate one of the season. A week from Saturday, we will be closing the door on the season with the return of Louis CK for the third time, and he will be joined by frequent musical guest Rihanna. Is there any way to get Andy Samberg back for another edition of Shy Ronnie?
