‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2, episode 20 review: Who died in ‘Scars’?

Skye -The first challenge that “Agents of SHIELD” had Tuesday night was significant one: Trying to pay off the events of “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” in a way that makes sense, even for some people who have not already seen the movie. For the most part, they did a decent job. Most of the main characters were not too impacted one way or another, there were some pretty powerful lines in here. If nothing else, the Ultron saga has made the team realize more that they cannot just trust someone because of what they have done in the past.

Even with that being said, trust ended up being an enormous component in tonight’s new episode, as a variety of characters had to figure out what it really meant to trust someone. At the center of this was Skye.

Let’s just jump ahead now to what was the final act: An intense showdown between Jaiying and Gonzales, and one that led to her killing the leader of the Real SHIELD, only to then claim that he shot her twice. This could spark a war between the Inhumans and SHIELD, which further cements just what side she is on, and whether or not she ever had any real dreams of cooperating with the other organization. The quick answer there is “no.”

With that in mind, and with Bobbi and Mack now losing a man they once valued more than Coulson, the question now becomes if there is a way to rally them together with the original group beyond what we have seen so far. All hands are going to be on deck, especially since we don’t know quite what Chloe Bennet’s character (who is at the center of both universes) is going to ultimately do. In due time, we may find out. Grade: B.
