‘Shameless’ season 6 video: Showtime confirms renewal in new promo

Tonight, “Shameless” is going to be wrapping things up with season 5, and there are quite a few stories to tie together. Lip and Frank have some unusual romances that they need to resolve, while Fiona has to decide to try to fix her marriage to Gus, or run in the other direction to be with Sean. Choices have been one of the major themes of the season (other than hating Sammi), and if there is one thing we’ve come to learn about the Gallaghers over the years, it is that choices are not something that they do particularly well.

Based on the new promo that Showtime has released confirming the season 6 renewal, it really does not look like a whole lot is going to be changing with this family anytime soon. The promo teases more chaos, and then gives you a variety of clips that you’ve already seen this season.

How long can a show like “Shameless” last? You would think that eventually some of these characters would grow up a little bit, and that would eventually make this show a little more boring. That hasn’t happened yet, but we figure that it could soon. Five seasons is already a pretty long time for a premium cable show, even though “Dexter” managed to last for eight. We feel like “Shameless” probably has a season or two left in the tank, since you want to leave with your head held high and there have already been some fans who have been lukewarm on the past two seasons.
