‘Downton Abbey’ season 6 spoilers: Allen Leech wants to stay

What's next -Of course, we begin this article with a SPOILER warning: Stop reading now if you have yet to see the conclusion to this past season of “Downton Abbey,” which ended in Britain in the fall, and will conclude Sunday night on PBS.

Still with us? Well, we come today to discuss further the recent and lovely Ask Me Anything on Reddit that actor Allen Leech did, where he talked about a variety of subjects. We learned that he and Rob James-Collier are the pranksters on the set, that he was extremely emotional filming the death of Sybil, and most importantly, the he does not have any apparent plans to leave the series on his own accord. At the end of season 5, it appears as though the character is moving to Boston, but when asked if he would return, he had the following to say:

“Petition Julian Fellowes! I think Branson’s home is Downton Abbey, and I hope Julian thinks so too.”

As for if his inclusion at a recent press event was a clue he may return, Leech says that this was a Hollywood Foreign Press event for season 5, and it made sense he would be there. He did not offer up any further clues in regards to the future.

Ultimately, we feel confident that we will see Branson again, even if it is not right away in the new season. He is a popular character, and Fellowes has not been keen to write out actors unless they make the decision themselves to depart. It feels like Tom just needs to find himself, and realize that despite his insecurities, he actually does belong at the Abbey with these members of British high society.
