‘The Voice UK’ review: Meet Sheena McHugh, NK, Lara Lee, Karl Loxley

Voice -The blind auditions on “The Voice UK” are starting to wind down a little bit, and that means the coaches starting to be a little bit more tentative with some of their choices. There were a few pretty good singers that were turned away! Also, we were rather shocked to see that there were some other singers who actually did advance, even though they weren’t necessarily as good.

For the sake of this article, we are going to focus (at least for the most part) on the artists who are making it through to the next part of the competition.

Karl Loxley – What is it with Will and opera singers? The guy loves them! We actually agree with everything that he said here, from his talent to the fact that he does look a little bit like a real-life version of a Disney character.

Si Genaro – He didn’t get a turn, but this guy was REALLY good. He doesn’t have the best voice, but there is so much heart and emotion behind how he sings. We’re going to miss him in this competition.

Lara Lee – With the way that her story was edited beforehand, it felt pretty assured that she was going to get a chair turn. This ended up being true? She’s not a member of Tom Jones’ team, and we’re fine with that given her unique, jazzy vocal.

Joyful Sounds – A duo! The majority of these don’t really fare well on the show, and we do wonder if they can actually do anything current. At least they have Will to help guide them.

NK – This guy basically made almost everything out of “Me and My Broken Heart” that you possibly could. We’re thrilled to see him on the show, especially as a part of Team Rita when so many people turned around.

Christina Matovu – Christina may have the best reaction ever to getting a chair to turn. She basically said nothing the entire segment after Ricky Wilson turned around, but really did not need to, either.

Sheena McHugh – We’ve heard this rendition of the Drake song before. We actually would’ve preferred that she sang more of the song rather than the big notes, but she is really great and very current. No surprise that every coach turned. What was interesting here is that Will did not necessarily have the best pitch, but his reputation speaks for itself, and she obviously wanted to work with him.
