‘Arrow’ season 3, episode 11 video: Exec on huge Katie Cassidy – Black Canary story

Black Canary -At the end of this past “Arrow” episode entitled “Left Behind,” we had our first real opportunity to see Laurel Lance as the Black Canary. For a brief moment, it actually appeared that she was ready to take on Starling City!

However, it turns out that what we saw may be better understood as  just her getting really lucky. In the video preview below for Wednesday night’s “Midnight City,” executive producer Marc Guggenheim teases tons of wonderful material ahead for Katie Cassidy, but the majority of it will not feature her just being a killing machine. She has had far less training than anyone else on Team Arrow. Even Roy Harper, who hasn’t been a part of this world for nearly as long as Diggle or Oliver, at least has the advantage of growing up on the streets.

In the end, expect to see Laurel have it handed to her more often than not in the early going, and it will lead to Roy even confronting her about what in the world she is doing being out there and trying to handle the responsibility of being this sort of heroic figure.

Also, Guggenheim hypes up further the Danny Brickwell character, who he claims is in many ways the biggest mobster that the series has seen so far. What makes this character so interesting to us is that he is not necessarily someone who is out to attack Oliver or anyone else in particular. There is no history there. He just wants to conquer, and make the city his own. That’s a little different than the norm.
