‘Sherlock’ season 4 video: Martin Freeman gets cheeky on he, Benedict Cumberbatch

Sherlock season 3At this point in the media age, the ‘shipper community is a huge one. While they may only make up a certain small percentage of overall viewers for a show like “Sherlock,” they tend to be among the most vocal and passionate. Therefore, you tend to hear from them often on a variety of different subjects.

One of them with this show is the subject of whether or not Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch should be getting together … both off-screen as well as on.

While Freeman does seem to have a good sense of humor about all of the talk, he also did his best to set the record pretty straight during an interview on “The Jonathan Ross Show” this weekend … just in case anyone was really doubting anything in the first place:

“The creators of the show are aware of that and I think they play with it to a certain extent … I am slightly reticent to keep that going too much just because when it first started, I thought it was quite witty and quite funny that people were running with that ball and it’s fine but there are people that just will not have it.

“Not only are John and Sherlock not a couple but that me and Ben are not a couple. So there are people that are actually absolutely determined that [wife] Amanda is my beard. Me and [Benedict Cumberbatch] are friendly but we’re not married!”

Regardless of your take on Sherlock and Watson, just be pleased that you will be seeing more of them soon. Filming for the next series special will start early next year.

You are going to get a chance to see Freeman on American TV soon, as he is the host for next weekend’s new episode of “Saturday Night Live.”
