‘Survivor: San Juan del Sur’ preview: Alec, Baylor, and questionable choices

Alec Christy -There’s a part of us that wants to force all “Survivor” players to read a book before they go out there, explaining some of the obvious things that they should never do while out there.

For example, shouldn’t you know better to not order around other castaways? These are people who control your fate! Just being reasonably nice should be almost common sense to contestants on a show this far into its run, but it somehow manages to be a challenge for some people. This includes Alec, who in the sneak-peek video below (it’s at the end of “Survivor Live”), tells Baylor basically to take out the “Survivor” version of trash. The insinuation here is that he feels like she doesn’t pull her own weight around camp, but there’s a difference between feeling that and saying that. We feel like the move here is more to let someone else call her out if that is the case, and then maybe use it down the road at a tribal council or the endgame if you want to make a good argument.

You would think that this insanity from Alec would lead to Baylor coming off really well, but somehow, she then manages to come off even worse! How? She complains that she “feels like a slave” when Alec makes her do things. Word to the wise, Baylor: Just don’t compare yourself to a slave ever. You’re going to potentially offend people on your tribe, and offend people watching at home. You’re on a TV show, where you are getting paid a hefty sum of money for making the jury. We thought for a while that she may be getting a winner’s edit, but it’s hard to be so sure now. (Her mother, meanwhile, is doing a pretty decent job, though we do feel like she screwed up losing Keith.)
