‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Jim Carrey, Aidy Bryant do impressions and more
This weekend, “Saturday Night Live” is being hosted by a man who had done some good stuff on the show in the past, and on paper, really seems to be one of the best hosting choices you can make: Jim Carrey. He’s zany, energetic, and he’s not afraid to do just about anything.
Will this translate over to the show this time? It’s a little early to tell completely, but it at least translates over well to the new promo released by NBC. This features Jim alongside cast member Aidy Bryant, and the two do a series of silly things to get you further prepared for the show. It starts with Halloween masks, and it continues on with Jim doing his elaborate “impression” of Aidy, which is really just him running around while screaming and making funny faces.
While we don’t want to ultimately set the bar too high, it does feel at the moment like “SNL” has some of its best run of hosts coming up that it has had in a while. After all, it’s hard to think anything else when you have a one-two punch of Carrey followed by Chris Rock the following week. This is a show that probably also needs the presence of these guys at the moment to boost the show’s reputation, which took a hit last year due to some weaker sketches and performances.
