‘The X Factor’ UK: Eight piece boy band picks name Stereo Kicks
One of the stories that dominated the headlines this week when it came to “The X Factor” UK was seeing what the mystery boy band was going to choose as their name. There are eight guys in this band, and we still wonder or not they are less of a band, and more of a choir when you have this many people as a part of it.
Still, we now at least know that this group will be called Stereo Kicks. We have absolutely no idea what this means, but we have to say that when it comes to band names on this show, we’ve certainly hard far worse. Remember, tonight we already have Blonde Electra and Overload Generation on the show, and at one point on the American version, Fifth Harmony actually went with the name of 1432, which sounds more like a passcode for an iPhone than something that would be on a stage.
Name changing is actually a pretty difficult process, given that the producers and the legal team have to make sure that nobody’s going to sue you (don’t want another Rhythmix / Little Mix situation), and that it is a name that is easy to spell and remember. Something may work for the band, but not for anyone else.
As for whether or not eight people is too many to get behind, that is what we’re going to have to work out throughout the season. We at least admit to being interested at the moment, since this is not something we have seen on the show before.
