‘Game of Thrones’ season 5: Aiden Gillen lands sweet off-season role

Littlefinger -It certainly pays to be a part of “Game of Thrones.” Not only does the HBO series help to acquire you some of the most devoted fans out there, but you can also snag all sorts of other opportunities for when you are not filming the show.

At the moment, this is precisely what is happening when it comes to Aiden Gillen. Sources confirm that the actor, best known for playing Peter “Littlefinger” Baelish on the show, is going to be the villain in the upcoming movie sequel “Maze Runner: Scorch Trials” coming out in 2015. The first movie was an enormous success, so of course the studio is eager to see what happens with the next part of the series.

So what does it mean for Gillen’s future on “Game of Thrones”? Absolutely nothing. Seriously. For some reason, there are some media outlets out there trying to make this into some huge controversy, or that he is jumping ship from one show in order to join another. In the end, though, that could not be further from the truth. What the real reality here is that Gillen’s “Game of Thrones” schedule is not that insane; thanks to such a big cast, nobody has to work a billion hours. He will be able to do both of these projects without a problem, and probably in theory could do even more with some of that extra time.

“Game of Thrones” season 5 will premiere on HBO in the spring of next year.
