MTV’s ‘Awkward’ season 4, episode 12 review: How did Jenna recover from Matty – Eva shocker?

“Awkward,” how we’ve missed you on the air. Tuesday night’s fall premiere was a chance to somewhat-reset the score after what happened earlier this season, and in the process we had a chance to learn a few new things about where Jenna and Matty’s lives could be heading.

Before we do anything else, though, we have to deal with what is the most-frustrating part of the entire episode: Recovering from the fact that Eva is pregnant, supposedly with Matty’s child. She basically used this as a way to weasel herself further into his social circles.

In the end, though, our theory about Eva was correct: She’s not really pregnant, and she used a test that belonged to someone else. She also bribed the pregnant girl Gloria with a pair of earrings that she stole from Matty’s mom.

We are ultimately pretty glad that this story seems to be fairly wrapped up for the time being, since Eva was probably one of the most-hated characters out there. His personal life is open again, which is great news for himself and Jenna moving forward. Heck, we weren’t even mad that this story unraveled so quickly that we could get back to speculating about our main characters again.

The only thing that we wish this episode had more of was this Lissa storyline, mostly because her whole “forbidden fruit” story is something that is completely different for the show.

Overall, this was an extremely funny start to the second part of the season, and we only hope that the show continues down this road the rest of the year. Grade: B+.
