‘The Voice’ alum Melanie Martinez’s song ‘Carousel’ featured in ‘American Horror Story’ trailer

Carousel -Just as we enjoy posting trailers and coverage for most of your favorite scripted shows, it is a nice double-whammy for us when this world collides with something we also have a vested interest in: Reality competition shows.

Specifically, we always like it when an artist from a show we’re familiar with lands a big break, and gets a song featured in some capacity. Most recently, Lee DeWyze of “American Idol” had this happen with a song that was featured within an episode of “The Walking Dead.”

Now, we have a case of Melanie Martinez of “The Voice” having her song “Carousel” featured in the latest “American Horror Story” trailer. If you missed that, you can check it out over here. Given that the video runs for around a good minute, you have plenty of time to identify the song, which certainly works with the feel and tone of the show. You can listen to the entire song via Melanie’s YouTube channel below. You can also pick it up on iTunes.

There is actually an interesting connection already between Melanie and the “American Horror Story” franchise in Adam Levine. The Maroon 5 frontman was her coach on “The Voice,” and he also recurred on the second season of the FX drama. Also, we should point out that Ryan Murphy and his production team do have a knack for finding music that suits what they are trying to do, but typically, this is much more true for “Glee” than any show that makes its living on creeping you out.

In the end, this was a cool little thing to figure out for us while watching the trailer a few times tonight. If you recognized the song right away, awesome; if not and you are a fan of “The Voice,” consider this a nice little blast from the past.
