‘Glee’ season 6 spoilers: Chord Overstreet confirms return as Sam, major role
While we may still be figuring out everything on “Glee” season 6 in terms of how much certain actors will appear and what their roles will be, we at least have some further verification today about one thing when it comes to Chord Overstreet: He will be back for more of the continued adventures of Sam Evans.
Speaking to E! News, Chord confirmed that he will be back presumably as a regular for the final season, and Sam will be located in the show’s setting of Lima, Ohio. The series is returning to some of its arts education roots, and all of this gives us some further time to flesh out our grand theory for what we think is coming up on the final season: Most likely, the former New Directions members will return to Ohio to get the glee club back on track again, using their success in the real world as proof of its value. There will most likely be a time jump, which allows for there to be some time for Rachel Berry to be a TV star, for Mercedes to be a successful singer, and maybe even for Sam to have some luck in the modeling world.
Also, arts education is what the show was meant to be about in the first place. It feels almost like both the public infatuation with the younger characters, coupled with a desire to make the show longer than a few seasons, caused everything to become the jumble that it is today with so many people all in different cities and the show struggling to figure out whether or not it is about educators or kids following their dreams. This time around, it’s former students becoming educators in a way, even if they do not have the formal job title.
