‘Supernatural’ season 10 spoilers: Is The CW open to another spin-off idea already?
Unfortunately, the problem for “Supernatural: Bloodlines” was just that it wasn’t good at all. The characters and the story were melodramatic, and there was nothing about Ennis Roth as a main character that screamed to us “awesome.” The backdoor pilot was probably the worst episode of the show since that found-footage one that barely had Sam or Dean in it.
In proving yet again that he is in touch with the fans more than some give him credit for, The CW’s programming head Mark Pedowitz said at TCA today rather diplomatically the reason that “Bloodlines” did not happen, but also stressed that they still want another spin-off in that world:
“The ‘Supernatural’ spin-off that came in, creatively, did not quite get where we wanted it to go … We have told [showrunner] Jeremy [Carver] and [executive producers] Eric [Kripke] and Bob [Singer] that we’re very open to do another spin-off. We’re waiting for them to come in with whatever the new concept is.”
It may be controversial to some to say, but we feel like for us, the only way that you are going to have a spin-off for this show is to take away a big character from the original and give them something else to do. Take, for example, one maybe around Crowley, or even give Felicia Day’s Charlie a shot. Maybe one around Misha Collins’ Castiel would work, but it’d be harder because there are so many angels in the flagship show as-is.
In case you missed it, The CW did release a longer synopsis of the upcoming tenth season yesterday. You can check that out here, and you can also sign up in the event that you want some further news and updates on all we cover.
