‘Once Upon a Time’ season 4 spoilers: Giancarlo Esposito returns, we rejoice
Basically the moment that it was announced that “Revolution” was canceled by NBC after two seasons, there was one thought on our mind: Does this mean that we’re going to get the opportunity to see Giancarlo Esposito again on “Once Upon a Time“? He was tremendous as Sidney Glass / The Magic Mirror, but his schedule made it very hard for him to appear frequently.
Well, at least this schedule problem is being taken care of now. According to a new report from TV Guide, Esposito will at least be a part of the premiere episode, entitled “A Tale of Two Sisters.” Awesome, no? Unfortunately, there’s no real word on how he will appear. Sidney has basically been held prisoner for all this time for his variety of crimes, but the irony here is that he’s locked up, while the woman he loved in Regina is still out there with the capacity to do all sorts of terrible things. There are people with a much longer resume of evil-doing out there in the free world.
While we would be surprised if Esposito is made a regular (mostly because that seems like pipe-dream territory), we are at least thrilled to learn of his return to the show. He brings a certain class and energy that cannot be replicated, and he’s also one of those forgotten threads from the show’s first season. Remember Cinderella, Nova, and some of those other characters we haven’t seen since that time? They would all be great to see again, but the problem is that the show operated as a little more of a procedural back then versus what it is today.
