‘Halt and Catch Fire’ episode 4 preview: The power struggle begins

Is John starting to be completely controlled on “Halt and Catch Fire”? After seeing the past several episodes of the series, we can say with authority that this is going to be something that will come up as some of the characters start to crumble under the weight of what Joe is up to.

This episode in the end could be called “How John Got His Groove Back.” You know that after the conversation in the sneak peek below, he is probably going to try to stomp back into the office and act as much like an authority figure as he possibly can. This probably will not sit well with Joe or anyone else, which is probably what you would have expected in return. This sort of power struggle is, like a computer in a way, what drives this series. Joe has sent this entire company dangling in the water, and there is occasionally going to be resistance … especially when he has already proven himself many times over to be someone who does not always have a plan for every move.

With all this being said, we are still interested in seeing where the show goes from here. We just hope that there are times where the story does not try too hard to rely on imagery, and tries to further humanize Cameron rather than just making her into some sort of quirky / brilliant character that we can never fully understand as much as we’d like to. It is a complicated show, but one that is doing a few things right.
