‘Supernatural’ season 10 spoilers: Misha Collins on Castiel’s reaction to Dean
More often than not, there are not that many opportunities to see “Supernatural” scoop over the course of the summer. Even when the writers room is in full swing, they’re not exactly running over to the newest media outlet and spilling everything.
This is why we are lucky that the convention circuit exists. After all, this provides an opportunity to actually get some dish on what lies ahead for the show from some of the people who appear on it. While sometimes it may be vague, we’d much rather get a few vague teases here and there than nothing at all.
For this update, we turn to Misha Collins. Speaking at the Jus in Bello Con (otherwise known as Jubcon) last week, the man behind Castiel shared what he felt would be his character’s reaction to the big news in the season 9 finale that Dean is now a demon:
“Well, I think Cas has demonstrated that he’s willing to sacrifice quite a lot, like an entire army, the save Dean … I think that Cas will react when he sees Dean…[by being] happy that Dean’s alive and then he’ll be sad that Dean’s a demon.”
Will Cas actually be able to help Dean in some capacity moving forward get out of this state? That is one of many things that we are excited to see when this new season premiers on The CW. There is no official start date just yet, but we expect it to be at some point in early October. That is around the time that many other shows on the network return.
What do you want to see from Castiel on “Supernatual” this season? Share some of your thoughts below, and head over here to get some more updates from Jensen Ackles about Dean’s own path. Meanwhile, sign up now for some further updates via our CarterMatt Newsletter.

I just hope they wrap up the Metatron and angel SL in the early stages of S10,then Castiel leaves Hannah to lead the angels after opening up heaven so all the earth bound angels return to heaven and remain there. Then i would like to see Cas team up with Sam after finding out that Dean is alive but now a demon under Crowleys influance and both try to find a way to hunt Crowley down and find a cure for Dean

These aren’t really spoilers as Misha has no more idea where this story is going than anyone else. The writers have only just gone back to work and none of the cast had seen a script. In fact they usually only get the 1st script a couple of weeks before filming restarts.
I am bemused by fans, and Misha himself, claiming that Cas ‘gave up an army for Dean’. Anyone who really believes Cas would have acted any differently if asked to kill Sam, or any innocent human, in that situation has a far lower opinion of Cas than I do. He didn’t give up his army for Dean. He gave it up because the moral price (killing a human being) they demanded for their continued loyalty was too high.

I think that Cas and Sam will work together to try to find a cure for Dean. I do think Cas will sacrifice for Dean even if it means losing his grace.. I think he and Sam will get close. I actually like seeing them together but I really do like Cas and Dean in scenes together. I love Crowley and he also has good scenes with Dean too. It is a good group of 4 actors who work great together. I do hope to see Cas do what he can to help Dean. We know Sam will do what he has to and I’m sure Cas will. I even think Crowley might try to help THis wasnt something he planned and I think he will look after Dean

I would like to see the relationship between Cas and Dean grow (not necessarily in a sexual way). I just love the chemistry they have, and I love the chemistry between Dean and Crowley too. I’m pretty sure Dean will now hate Crowley even more though… My expectations for Season 10 are high. They’ve always been and I’ve never been disappointed. The only thing that bugs me is that Jensen seems really uncomfortable with the way Dean and Cas are… I’m not saying they have a romantic relationship, I just mean that if that ever happens, if Cas says “I love you” to Dean… it seems like Jensen would be against it.

It is crystal clear from the most recent con, and previous cons that Jensen is a fan of the brothers (brotherly ie totally non Wincesty) relationship and of Dean and Cas’s friendship, but strongly believes there isn’t, not ever will be, any sexual element to their relationship. I totally share that view, and canon is clear that Dean is straight. I get that Destiel fans are disappointed, but at least Jensen has stated his views clearly and unequivocally.
