‘Bones’ season 9, episode 22 review: Is the Ghost Killer story over?

Take a look -After spending many weeks on “Bones” waiting to find out more information about the Ghost Killer, the story finally picked up some traction on Monday night’s new episode “The Nail in the Coffin.” The pieces started to come together … at least to a certain extent.

For most of the episode, the team at the Jeffersonian pieced together the tale of one Stephanie MacNamara, who had the trail necessary in order for her to be the killer. The problem now? She is already dead, and as the story went along, hints about the larger story and a conspiracy were made clear.

But in the end … the Ghost Killer story felt like someone just scratched a record, and that was the end of it. We were expecting so much more than just a confrontation with Kessler about to hang himself. After all the hype and all the conversation in the press, is it over this quickly? If this is the end of the tale, this has to be one of the most over-hyped stories “Bones” has ever done.

What we are hoping now is that the Ghost Killer is someone so amazing at their job that they got someone to throw themselves in at their mercy, and take the fall for the crimes. Unfortunately, we can’t review an episode based on hope, and if “Bones” is going in that direction, it would’ve been nice to have a button in here somewhere that suggested that there was something more than what we had here. But alas, there was nothing. Even if the Ghost Killer is gone, could the conspiracy go much further than Kessler and Stephanie? We’re not even really into sweeps yet, and that’s when big stories tend to bubble to the surface. Grade: C.
