‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 7 spoilers: More on ‘Star Wars Day,’ Bob Newhart

Here it is -There is no “Big Bang Theory” episode on CBS tonight, but here’s the good news to turn things around for you: This is the last time that we are going to be saying this over the rest of the season. In a matter of a few short weeks, season 7 will be over and done, and it’ll then be time to look forward with excitement to everything that could be coming around the bend.

One of the best things to expect a week after the show returns is the big “Star Wars Day”-themed episode entitled “The Proton Transmogrification.” This is the half-hour that we reported about recently that will feature the return of Bob Newhart as Sheldon’s hero Professor Proton, and it was a big collaboration between the show and LucasFilm (a.k.a. Disney these days) in order to pull this off. Given that Disney also owns ABC, a rival network, we have to give everyone involved here credit and realizing that the potential for this to be awesome is way better than network politics.

Take a look now at the official synopsis below for greater details:

“Professor Proton helps Sheldon cope with grief, while Leonard turns a relationship milestone into a competition with Penny. Meanwhile, Amy and Bernadette make a ‘Star Wars Day’ gift for the guys.”

The interesting thing about Newhart is that despite being a legend, his two appearances on “The Big Bang Theory” so far have been very polarizing. At times he has been praised for bringing something new in terms of energy, but we personally felt like the last episode felt a little like they everyone was trying too hard. They even brought in Bill Nye to try to one-up what they did the first time.
